Helpnet – new portal for persons with special needs The AISO Association introduced the idea to launch a new portal focused on providing information for handicapped people at the recent conference INSPO 2002 – Internet and information services for persons with special needs in Prague. There was discussed a question of optimal cooperation of existing Czech Web sites at one of the sessions of the conference. Based on the conclusions of the discussion - the board of directors of AISO decided to start works on the new portal called Helpnet. The BMI Association already registered the domain name Helpnet.cz.
BMI will manage the project, and Mr. Pavel Hajny will be the coordinator. The portal Helpned will concentrate the information from different sources and mass media; it shall mirror and link also the relevant content of co-operating Web sites. During the next weeks the concept of the portal shall be ready to start discussion with possible partners of the project. The cooperation is expected also with organizations and associations of people with special needs to provide broad professional and reliable information about various types of disabilities, which is missing now. The AISO is going to introduce the first demo version of the portal at the Rehaprotex Exhibition in November 2002 in Brno. In March 2003 shall be the portal Helpnet open to public in the frame of the March-Month of Internet campaign. Sponsors and partners are sought to support the project and help to launch the portal.
