Junior Internet – enormous interest
10.2.2003

Almost 200 application forms came to hands of masterminds of the 4th children’s conference Junior Internet. The registration closing is today - February 10. This year a record number of contenders are expected. The best competitors will be invited to attend the conference, which will take place in the Klub Lavka in Prague, in March 8, 2003. The Junior Internet conference will be transmitted live by the Atlas Web portal.

The conference is held under the auspices of the Minister of Informatics Vladimir Mlynar; the main partner of the project is Intel CZ.

Children have invited the conference Junior Internet – it was launched for the first time by the children’s Internet magazine eZavináč together with the BMI Association in the year 2000. Attendees of the past conferences have had a good opportunity to see a very good – almost professional - level of presented Web sites and other Web projects created by children, i.e. the nominees of the conferences. For some of them the conference became a springboard for their personal engagement in various Internet activities. To be nominated, children have to go through competition, where they have to show their Internet skills, and only the best projects have been chosen to for the presentation at the conference.

Three competitions are announced for this 4th year of the conference. The first one called the JuniorText is for children up to 14 years. It is the competition of the best-written essays about Internet. The second one is a traditional JuniorWeb, i.e. the competition of the best Web sites. For the first time is the JuniorProject organized as the competition of large Web sites or Internet projects of the young people up to 18 years.

Media partners of the conference are the Czech School, My 1st newspaper, Teacher`s newspaper and VTM magazine.
