PRELUDE project is focused on dissemination and support of IT in different spheres of the regional development. The government of the Vysocina Region, the Czech partner of Prelude decided on the last session in June to publish a special Call for IT promotion and Web development projects. The general objective of the program is to attract interest of different groups of citizens as well as municipalities and entrepreneurs of the region to the use of computers and the Internet in everyday life.

Two calls were announced:

ü      The first one will support the best ideas, contests, and other interesting activities in the field of IT. Projects shall be preferably oriented on groups of people, which are still “not affected” by Internet or computers. Organisations or individuals can apply for the project, which can be located outside of the Vysocina region. The funding however (up to 50% of the projected eligible costs) shall be used only for activities with measurable positive effect for the region.

ü      The second call covers two areas: The first one is focused on support of Web sites of municipalities while the other one will support building and development of Web sites of small and medium enterprises located in the region. The objective of the call is to increase accessibility and quality of contents of the existing Web sites of municipalities located in the region, and also to increase visibility of small and medium companies of the region on the home and international market. For instance a registration of domain names shall be funded too in the frame of the call. Municipalities in the region and entrepreneurs or enterprises up-to maximum 50 employees can apply for the project.

The main advantage of the above decision is not screwed into the financial sphere but in the continual and systematic program of actions supporting IT and Internet projects aimed to reach a sustainable development of the region, which is located out of the attractive industrial centres of the Czech Republic.
