The regional government launched a grant scheme this year to support regional and local informatics. There were three main fields supported by the grant scheme – Web sites of SMEs, Web sites of Municipalities, Promotion of information technologies.

„The main objective of the Web of SMEs and Web of Municipalities was to create new Web sites or to improve the content, design and technical level including accessibility for people with disabilities (Blind Friendly Web).

Grant scheme was supported by amount of one million of Czech crowns (CZK, i.e. ca. Euro 30 thousands).  There were 72 applications of SMEs (43 of them were funded finally) and 67 applications of Municipalities (55 adopted).  The municipalities asked first of all for funding of Web improvement including implication of a publishing system, electronic registry and training of stuff.

Objective of the Promotion of information technologies program was to increase awareness of the citizens in the region about possibilities and usage of Information technologies in practice of public administration and businesses. The grant scheme was supported by CZK 0,6 million. Finally 14 projects were funded (of 23 applications), which were focused on equipment of internet training and reading rooms in public libraries as well as on better accessibility of internet at public places.

“The projects shall increase overall interest and better usage of information technologies in the day-by-day practice of public administration and businesses as well as improve accessibility of the Internet for average citizen in the region,” said Mrs. Rojkova, manager of the department of informatics of the region.
